Australia is experiencing one of its warmest starts to winter, with Sydney and Melbourne recording their warmest June ever, while much of southern Australia has seen above-average temperatures.
Experts say climate change and the recent development of El Niño are driving the unusually mild conditions, with warmer and drier weather expected to continue through winter and into spring.
